Hi
there!

snow shovels away!

Spring Cleaning
|
|
This is the time of year when we clean up our yards,
clean the salt and winter dirt off of or vehicles, clean up inside
our homes, and dispose of our accumulated junk. But what about your PCs? Do you clean out accumulated dust which
can cause overheating, and can potentially be a fire hazard? Do you
clean out accumulated temporary files that clog up your hard drive,
slowing down your PC's performance? Do you know where those temporary
files hide? That's where your friendly PC technician comes in! Don't
wait for problems to occur, call or email for an
appointment!

Security
|
|
I have reported on security issues many times before,
but the attacks continue, and some types seem to be on the rise. The inevitable
question that comes up is "Why didn't my security software catch
this?" It's a fair question, but consider
this: We get a flu shot in the Fall, but does that guarantee that we
will not get sick through the Winter? No! We all bear the responsibility
of protecting ourselves against the spread of colds and flu, and
there are new strains appearing all the time.
Similarly,
we are all responsible for safe computing. Malicious software attacks
are a fact of life on the Internet. Be cautious of any shared link,
audio or video clips, especially on social networking sites, and
promising something sensational. Anyone can be tricked into
unknowingly spreading something malicious to their contacts.
I
recently witnessed an audio security scam broadcast over Skype while
with a client. I also recently heard of a case of a phone call to a
client alleging they had contracted a virus. Beware of scammers, they
are everywhere! If in doubt, call or email your friendly PC
technician!
